How much of a bad idea is using tape to hold off my m.2 ssd, I feel the screws are rotten and I don't have a way to remove them

I have tried everything, honestly I just think I'm not strong enough but I live alone and I don't really have anyone to ask so. Can I hold it down with tape? Thats black electric tape.

You might need to use thermally resistant tape.  You start getting Double sided, duct, or electrical tape hot (like the temps inside a PC case (30 - 60C)) the adhesive will break down.  and that would be no bueno.

Nope, won't the glue that the tape has be conductive though?

there's a reason why its called electrical tape, it doesn't conduct electricity.

I'll try with buying heat resistant tape, I thought it was called electrical because the outer layer doesn't conduct

Would it be bad to leave it without tape for the few days it takes for it to arrive home (like 2 or 3 days)

Also does this work?

Electrical tape will turn to gunk soon enough. But some other tape, why not if it holds it

Electrical tape does not conduct Electricity. Heat is entirely different.

I would really look to replace the screw that was holding it in. IF that pops out while reading or writing data because the tape lost stick, bye bye data.

No screw was holding it down, the screw that it's used to hold it down came in the socket. And since it's been there for like 3 years I can't seem to remove it. I'm just placing it on top of it

Not in the photo you posted. That silver thing is a stand off. You put a screw in the top of that.

I thought that too but no screw fits in there at least none that the case came with. , from what I see from the msi vid the standoff is a wider X and that's the screw that's in it

IIRC it's the exact same thread as the bottom of that standoff uses. if all else fails, go to Lowes or Home Depot (in the US.) and take the standoff with you, and find a screw that fits.

I believe they are typically fine thread M3 screws, but I don't remember exactly.
