Better in terms of more screen estate. But most people wouldn't be able to focus their eyes fully on the screen because it's wide (when gaming).
Good for productivity though. Less need to scroll horizontally.

It depends on what you're doing. Not every game supports ultrawide resolutions, and it isn't the best for productivity if you sacrifice screen size for an ultrawide aspect ratio. It could give you lots of horozontal screen real estate if you go for a larger monitor, like 30+ inches though.

Alrighty, so I want to get Forza Horizon 4 when it comes out. And as you may know, it is supposed to have some of the best graphics ever. And since I have a computer powerful to run that game on max settings at 4k, would it matter for me to run it on a 21:9 aspect thing, instead of a 4k monitor? Like how big is the difference between 4k and 21:9 thing?

I've been using 21:9 2560x1080 resolution monitors for 3 years now. It's great. I find a sweet spot for this resolution is 29 inches. A 34 inch monitor looks a little pixely. At that point, go for 3440x1440. In some games where peripheral vision is a bonus, it's great.

I also use it for the Adobe CC suite and it is super nice.

Also, way better for resizing windows that dual monitors. :)

A 21:9 screen just looks wider meaning more screen estate.

If you want better looking graphics, go for 1440p or 4k. But make sure your graphic cards can run games on those resolution decently.

In terms of performance, Ultrawide 1080p would be in between regular 1080p and 1440p, while 4k is still way up there. It would really be up to your personal preference; do you want a really wide screen or high pixel density?

I have seen companies advertise these Extra wide(ultrawide) resolutions as 1080p+, 1440p+ and so on (generally put a '+' after). They say like the + resolutions have "True picture tone, high picture quality" and some people get hyped up just because it has a higher number than it's original 16:9 size where in reality, it's just a wider real estate and there's literally zero improvements than a 16:9 in terms of picture quality.

I have Horizon 3, and to be honest, I prefer a 16:9 aspect ratio. I don't find 21:9 adds to the game. Plus, most cinematic scenes and menus are 16:9, so you will have pillar-boxing.

If you can run 4k, you can run a 2560x1080.

General rule of thumb for Forza on PC is the higher the texture quality, the more you will eat up your vram. my 1060 6gb can barely handle medium preset at 2560x1080.

Most likely not. You probably won't notice the pixels while playing games, and monitors don't make games look bad unless you're playing on something like a CRT display or TV instead of a regular monitor.

Umm, just good graphics. Is there that big of difference between 4k and 1080p, can you actually see a big difference

You don't need a new monitor. Are you happy with the way your monitor looks right now?

If yes, keep the monitor.

If no, get a new one.

Not bad, just ever so slightly will it be pixely. Increase textures to avoid if you can afford the performance hit.

Basically yes. 4k has way higher pixel counts than 1440p. Even 1440p has way more pixel count than 1080p.

Texture rendering quality means more than resolution. If textures are rendered at higher quality (Anti Aliasing and reolsution of textures, not game) resolution may not matter as much depending on screen size.

You're less likely to see individual pixels on a 4k screen because of the higher pixel density, so yes.

@GAMINGGUY

My comments in a nutshell:

1. Based on given system specs, you 'may' be able to run mostly at high settings.

2. Your monitor will not make the game look worse. If you have a 34 inch 2560x1080, I would just make sure texture details are as high as they can go for anti-aliasing.

3. You can enable Nvidia Super Sampling to get 4k quality on a 1080 panel, but not really worth the performance hit as you will have to degrade the texture quality.

4. Higher resolution(super sampling)=need to run lower texture quality=poor quality gaming

4B. Default resolution(Monitor resolution)=Ability to possibly run igher texture quality= better looking game and possibly better performance.
