CPU cant boot past 5.1GHz?

CatTNT

I can get 5.1GHz at 1.405V stable (although at 85C under load on 212 evo). But i try to get 5.2 GHz all the way up to 1.425V, wont even boot. One time i was able to enter my password, then it BSODd again. Temperature is not a problem, just trying to boot in at 35-40C so i can actually see how well it holds under stress testing.

EDIT: using 8600K with hyper 212 evo with its stock paste. I am getting a 280mm radiator in 2 days, will it help?

Is this CPU delidded?

Also, if you've actually managed to get to 5.1Ghz stable with temps under control, I'd call that a win already.

you're telling me you have your CPU at 5.1ghz with 1.405v and its only 85C under load? what the hell? is it delidded?

Damn, the Hyper 212 gets the W on this one. Either that, or this is the most legendary silicon lottery win I've seen.

Definitely sounds like you are hitting the voltage limit of the chip. Be thankful you got 5.1ghz. and on a 212 evo at that...

even using a flat voltage scale, i wouldnt try to boot 5.2 1.425 when the chip is 5.1 1.4 barely stable im guessing, and you are entering the zone where it gets exponential.

i would try to see if you can get 5.0ghz at 1.35v with the new cooler or something...that way the CPU will not go into 80c+ territory and it will last a long time...basically try to get 5.0Ghz 100% stable with least voltage possible with the water cooler.

Make it run cool and quiet and stable and it will be happy.

I mean 5GHz, much less 5.1GHz on that chip is already impressive. You're probably asking for too much trying to get 5.2 out of it.

Agreed, I don't see 5.2 without pushing 1.5v.
