i7 8700k @ 4.7ghz low 70s to mid 80s

Go to solution Solved by Cornontheecob,

1.32v seems high for 4.7 on all cores. I would try to lower the voltage, maybe try 1.25v for an all core 4.7 OC. TBH it should be able to go lower then that just make sure that u arent experiencing too much vdroop and if so increase your llc.

also, which stress test are u using? Prime95 will put the highest demand on your system but it is not very realistic i think. try aida64 or realbench to test your setup.

HELP

My setup is 8700k @ 4.7ghz 1.320 v with max 89 on core 0 and high 80s max on other cores. I have a 280mm corsair h115i pro rgb in pull config with idle temps at high 30s to low 40s! What am I doing wrong? Did I lose the lotery?

When i was seating the cooler it came off with a bit of thermalpaste still on the cpu. Is that the reason? what should i do? help!!!!! these temps are in intel extreme tuning utility stress test.

Yes but others are getting like mid 60s why me?

mid 60s on 1.32v just doesn't happen on a 8700k that isn't delidded. you might be looking at delidded temps or inflated numbers.

Ok I will buy new thermalpaste.

just use toothpaste (not actually) but most wont make much more of a difference than others

cpu cooler temp never goes above 55 is that normal? why such big difference in cpu temp and cooler temp?

There's immediate heat inside the cpu that can't be removed quick enough by the cooler

Pretty normal for a non-delidded 8700k. Mine maxes out at 84C at 4.9GHz, 1.28v.

Thinking about delidding mine.

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/
