I am looking for a psu with around 550w, but I do not know which brand to use. I am debating between the Cooler Master Masterwatt 550w 80+ bronze semifanless modular and the EVGA 600w (which I do not believe is fully modular), but if ya'll know a better one that's within the same price range, lemme know.

The Coolermaster Masterwatt 550W is a decent unit. Of the two I would choose that one.

What system are you powering with it?

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450

Then a good 400-450W is plenty.

The Formula 450W or the Focus 450W are higher end PSUs for about the same price.

The Earthwatts Gold Pro 550W and Focus 650W are available for about the same price after rebate.

Well the two of those will use maybe 220W without OC and 300W with OC, so take that as you will. What do you plan on upgrading to? If it's an RTX card then I might suggest a 550W unit since it seems like the RTX cards will use a bit more power than the current gen.

The aforementioned units from @seon123are all good choices.

possibly an RTX or a 1080ti once the rtx release which

will hopefully drop the 1080s price down. also, what brands for psus do you recommend ?

So are you going for an RTX card or a GTX 1080? Yes, you'll be able to buy a used 1080 for half the price of a new one pretty shortly here. I'd do that in your position.

I don't recommend any brands, I recommend specific PSUs. All brands have good and bad units, can't just blanket recommend one brand. Check the PSU tier list in my signature and look for something Tier 1 or 2.

Why those specifically?

Among those two, the Masterwatt is much much much much much better.
