ASUS PCE-AC56 AC1300

ThomasJacobsen

I got a ASUS PCE-AC56 AC1300 network card for my pc, but i can only get it to connect to 2,4ghz network wich is a lot slower than the 5ghz one.

Ny MBP and S8+ can connect to the 5ghz network. Anyone run into this before? Its annoying to run wifi from phone to computer to get below 150 ping in games

I have downloaded the utility drivers now, and now it tries to connect to the 5ghz one and fails everytime, and this disconnects me from the 2,4 ghz one so im without internet now..

Any ideas?

Unplug it before you install the driver, then plug it back in. Most WiFi cards require this to be done. Not really sure why.

Reinstall drivers. It's either a disk in the box or online drivers.

When i try to download drivers, it tells me it should install whenever i plug it in. So there is no drivers online

If you open the advanced driver config of the card, you can generally specify what the preferred connection method is.  Cards generally default to 2.4 unless you tell them to use 5Ghz.

If you are using Windows 10, open the following;

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network Connections\

Right click your WiFi interface (AC56)
Select Properties

Select Configure
Once you are there select the Advanced Tab, it should look like below;

Image result for ac56 advanced settings

Go to Wireless Mode

Set the Preferred Band to be 5Ghz
Click OK to Save, the Wifi adapter should auto reconnect on the 5Ghz channel(s)

There are other options in here to improve 5Ghz performance, but give that a try first and see how you get on.

You have multiple network interfaces connected, you will need to make sure that the WiFi is on the highest priority in the routing table if you have other network interfaces with valid gateway addresses.

Do me a favour, output the following files via command line and attach them here;

ipconfig /all > ipconfig.txt
route print > routingtable.txt
