What kind of cpu should i be on the look out for? I have a lot of options.

If you buy the i3 system you can swap the CPU for an i5 7500 or an i7 7700. I don't recommend the 7400 because of low clocks, but any 6th or 7th gen Intel CPUs will work with that motherboard. See if you can find out what graphics card is included

I am a console player looking to make the transition over to pc strictly for fortnite.

I would like to build a relatively cheap second hand pc and upgrade it to meet my standards. I have a few choices of pre owned pc's i found on Craigslist and need some help choosing what cpu over the others.

list:

$30/$40 Intel Core i3-6100 Skylake Dual-Core with nvidia gpu, 4gb of ram

$30/$40 AMD A8 3820 2.5 GHz, 6gb ram.

$90 Intel i5 3350P computer no other specs were given.

$90 Dell optiplex 980

I also need a graphics card that can run fortnite at 1080p, view distance at epic, textures: high/epic, and everything else set to low or off. So if you have a suggestion please free to tell.

The i3 should be just fine. As a graphics card (if the one that comes with the i3 isn't enough), a 1050ti ought to give you what you want, but depending on your budget you may want to look at a used card.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Those computers you listed are all going to preform pretty similarly. One thing to keep in mind is that depending on which prebuilt you go with the power supply might not have a connection for a gpu so be sure to check to see that you could replace the power supply or you can use a 1050ti and not worry about it. Personally I would keep looking around until you find something with a better cpu because a dual core is going to give you a bad time in the long run

Edit: if you go with one of these go with the i3 as stated above

The i3 system lists an "Nvidia GPU" , but do you know what graphics card it is? I think if it's anything semi modern you would be fine, and the drop in ram upgrade from 4 to 8 gb is nice too. On the other hand, Dell optiplex systems are known for being great secondhand gaming infrastructure.

Edit: on second thought, that 980 isn't gonna give as much value

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

You need to have a solid budget in place before you look at anything.
