Mobile data USB dongle for raspberry pi IoT project?

I wanted to be able to connect to my raspberry pi using mobile data, e.g a gsm dongle or something.

 

It does not need to be fast at all, something with 1x (this is going to be removed in 2019, so not a very good option) or 3g speeds would be good enough for me.

 

 

I found this one

 

But they charge 80$ for the cheapest option, which is obviously a scam. There are flip phones with 3g that are 10$ or less on ebay. (Idea: Can I wire my pi to a flip phone and have it use it's data connection, if that's cheaper?) 

 

I just want to reverse shell into my pi over 3g using some sort of pre paid plan. I want this to last for a long time, if possible.

 

Is there any option that is cheap and works?
