ASUS ROG STRIX RX Vega 56 vs GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition

So which card would be better for video editing and gaming, and which card has better features and they are both $499. AMD also has a promo for 3 free games. I know people say the 1080 is better but I don't think they're referring to the founders edition.

Thanks

I would get the 1080 because it usually is a little faster in most games. If any of the games AMD's promo includes are ones you really want though that might be worth getting instead, as you are essentially saving some money.

Are you sure that's the best price for the 1080 though? At least on PCPP I see some that are less than $450, that have better coolers than the founders.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

The 1080 will be better, even with founder's edition. It's also pretty nice if you plan on modifying the card later for water cooling, as the founders editions have better binned GPUs

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Depends, if you have a freesync monitor or want to buy a variable refresh rate monitor anytime soon i would go with the vega 56. But in pretty much any other scenario a 1080 will be better. the founders edition card is fine albeit a little loud. get a non FE if you can.
