I'm wanting to overclock my i7 4790k and I'm a little scared as to the max voltage I can put on this chip with out killing it.

I have it running at 1.320volts at 4.7ghz and I want to try and get 4.8 or .4.9ghz if possible.

is it safe to push the voltage any higher than 1.320 on this chip?

I plan on getting the corsair h100x aio water cooler for this.

Some info here, further down they say 1.30v is max for 4th gen.  You may be pushing your max, even with good cooling.

1.4v should be ok, if you can cool it that is. CPU input voltage btw should be 0.4-0.5V above the core voltage

I've gone as high as 1.5v on a 4790k but not for a 24/7 overclock. If you have the cooling to handle it then anything under 1.4v is safe in my experience with Haswell.

If the cooler can hold out just send it. Chip needs what it needs. Especially if you want to oc like that. Id have to check some old pictures of when I ran 4.8 on mine. I don't run it like that anymore as it yields nothing in gaming for me.

lets remeber the memory controler is on the chip with haswell and anything over 1.35vcore is what saw people with dead chips after prolonged use
1.35 is the limit with haswell

1.35 is the limit with haswell

modern CPUs' memory controller has always been in the CPU, not just Haswell. I guess you're talking about the FIVR? While that also produces considerable amount of heat, it doesnt make the CPU degrade because of voltage faster directly. It's those people not checking their temperatures close enough that causes the problem. If your CPU cooler can handle the heat, then Haswell can take 1.4V, just like the 32nm and 14nm Intel CPUs.

 

btw @RITIKLthe temperature I consider safe when using 1.4V is 70C full load (stress test). You might struggle with that with a 240mm rad liquid cooler

anything below 1.5 is technically okay, but 1.45 really is the spot where you won't really have to be worrying about it dying super soon. The most important thing is cooling, make sure it does not sit for hours on end at 90 degrees, as that mixed with the voltage will really kill it a lot faster. try to aim for small spikes into the 80's in the most intense situations. Although i assume 1.45 will not be achievable without going well into the 90's anyway.

you've got a point there. my chips dose seem to run hot. even when I had it on a h55 aio with push+pull.

I think I will try 1.35 and nothing higher than 1.37volts.
