Why aren't gaming pc's thin and light?

I mean if you would strip a Gaming laptop from it's Battery ,Display and keyboard. you would have a crazy thin and light gaming computer !

Just imagine a 7700HQ with a 1080 max-q in a 1 cm thin chassis.

Almost like the Intel Haydes NUC but even more powerful, add a vertical stand and your done.

Also MSI was on the right track with it's Trident, but it could be as thin as a MSI GS65VR.

what do you guys/gals think?

Will this be the future of the normal man's Desktop?

Positive Mental Additude!

You can't do that thanks to electricity generating heat and science unless you plan to use a liquid nitrogen loop somehow and not let condensation be a b*tch

Then laptops would have the same issue, i literaly mean a laptop without display, battery and keyboard. you can just use as a pc

If you remove all the hardware except the core computing components its just as good as a normal desktop. A laptop is made to be versatile (hence why it has a screen keyboard and so on), whereas a desktop is made to be stationary. Don't get me wrong, it's a cool idea. But it's just not practical. Even if it was a real thing you would still have to bring a power adapter to use the thing.

Please mention or quote me if you want a response. :)

omg please dont make a fool out of yourself. The Hadyes NUC has only like a gt1030 and that shit aint need fans to cool it unlike a 1080ti.

Well that's possible and it's already done in the looks of these computers that are around for 15 years

Yeah but the specs on this thing? Like integrated graphics?

that.... wouldn't be a laptop then, it'd just be a slim desktop which they already make... And if you stuff any properly powerful hardware in there you pump out masses of heat that has to be drawn away from the actual computer components somehow.

i know this looks bad but this is a Asus ROG GX501 GTX 1080max Q.

it has proper cooling on it to be usable without condensing

Yes, in this particular PC but it's an old model. Skull Canyon for example is packed with i7-6700HQ which is closer to the OP's vision. I was more like "Yeah you're not special there is already stuff like that used in Banks and other companies that value clean design*

it's only a 1080 and it wouldn't be practical as you would be paying like more for something that would be underclocked period i am done with this.

No, I think the future is already here.  You'll have non modular computers like tablets and thin laptops, then there's just the laptop and desktop.  Maybe standards will change here and there but that sort of middle ground you're describing won't really exist imo.

whats up with all these retarded comments, wtf?

the guy asked a simple question, and it's not something completely out of this world, since a laptop version already exists........

and this idea already exists btw

https://www.zotac.com/gb/product/mini_pcs/magnus-ek71080

it's not laptop form, but it's actually much smaller than a laptop (width wise) and the specs are amazing.

Why aren't gaming pc's thin and light?

The original question (at least the way I thought it was worded), was if thin gaming towers would become mainstream, not if there were any available.

I could have narrated that differently yes, but was wondering both if there where any and/or will be.

I got my answer :P
