Hi, looking for an upgrade to my monitor, been using 2 of them for the past few years. They are Acer - G236HLBbd 23.0" 1920x1080 60Hz Monitor and BenQ - XL2411 24.0" 1920x1080 144Hz Monitor. I do gaming and abit of content creation as a side job on the BenQ while the Acer is used a extra space to keep stuff open.

Thought of getting the Asus ROG Swift PG27UQ to replace my Acer but it's a massive $3500 SGD (Singapore).

Now looking for a content creation monitor. Preferably 4k no more than 27.0" coz of space. Unless there's a good hybrid monitor to replace both monitor. For the hybrid, response time don't matter but I would like a G-Sync. Using a 1080ti and i7-8700k and 32G Ram for your reference.

G-sync would be a waste of money

just buy any of the Free-sync 4k IPS displays, should all be pretty fine.

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

4k is pretty much useless on 27" since most 1080p monitors are 27" too and they look good too. So you have 4 times the ammount of pixels but can't really tell since it's the same small size.

Best would be to get a 32" 4k, then at least you have the benefits of 4k over 1080p. I was in the same boat and i'm glad I got a 32" 4k and not a 27" 4k. So honestly: make room.

My 27" 4k display seems perfectly fine

Sure it's fine but the point i'm trying to make is: I had a 27" 1920x1080 screen before and it already looked great. I don't really see how getting 4 times the ammount of pixels on the same size monitor would be an improvement when you can't really tell the difference. So if you go for 4 times the ammount of pixels, i think you would benefit more from it from also getting a bigger monitor. Because 4k on 32" still has smaller pixels than 1080p on 27" and you can enjoy the beautiful 4k detail even more.

a 27" 1080p display would look pretty bad unless it were far away.

4k at 27" is a noticeable improvement vs even 1440p at 27"

IMO, just grab any nice 4k 60Hz monitor with good colour accuracy for your content creation and just stick with your 144Hz BenQ for now.

Yes, you dont have G-Sync but you may as well just use Fast-Sync as your PC should have no problem handling that at 1080p 144Hz so you will have no tearing as long as your FPS is higher than 144.

I disagree, 27" 1080p looks beautiful. I'm sitting about 80cm/32" away from the screen. When I was considering my 4k monitor I first wanted to buy a 28" but I thought then I have 4 times the ammount of pixels on a monitor thats only 1 inch bigger, could you really tell? 4 times the ammount of pixels is alot of work for your gpu for something you maybe cant even see. So i'm glad I went with a 32" 4k monitor because then you can enjoy the beautiful 4k details even more while the pixels are still smaller than you could ever tell.

But indeed like you said: it probably depends how far away from the screen you are sitting and also it depends how good your eyes are.

@Skandrake Question about your monitors. You said that you have one 144hz and one 60hz, did you had any problems using them ? Particularly the Hz ?

Hz wise, no. I am looking for a good content creation monitor. So Hz wouldn't matter if I'm just gonna replace the Acer monitor.

In addition I have take measurements (after moving a few stuff) and can fit a 32.0" monitor next to my BenQ though it will look weird but I won't care. So any recommendations for a 27.0" or 32.0" or more than if replace both monitor. Just list or link them recommendations and I'll take a look.
