How to enable 165hz without gpu?

Hello, in my recent thread I asked if it was possible to run my 165hz 2560x1440 monitor at 165hz with a cpu only. (i7 8700k) According to some people it was possible, I now reach out to Linustechtips again and ask how to perform this if it is possible of course. I can't get past 64hz it seems here. Perhaps there is another way to do it ?

The monitor is connected through a display port.

Probably because it's using the basic GPU driver.

I think the 8700K has integrated graphics, install the drivers for that and you should be able to use your monitor at that refresh rate.

Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!

The windows display settings just tell you information.

To change things you need to use the intel graphics driver software.

Thanks guys! It works but it only seems to work for 144hz... Not 165. I have OCED my monitor so it should be good to go. image.thumb.png.4a24c7413d59d736ecb03b4eaa5a45c8.png

try using a custom mode as explained here https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005540/graphics-drivers.html

Yes custom mode is how you do it. I run our 75hz Viewsonic panels at work at 90hz no problem.

Ignore them, you know the screen can do it.

Ouch. I just checked asus' website and your motherboard only supports displayport 1.2, which means you can't get more than 144hz out of it.

Aw snap. Alright, I can live with 144 until 2080 releases, well unless the 2080 is just as good as the 1080ti. If that is true I am not buying from nvidia anymore.
