My Dad Needs A New Phone

My father has had the same phone since 2013, a Samsung Galaxy S3 and recently it has been getting a little slow on him. I'm personally an iPhone guy, so I don't know much about android devices and I was wondering if I could get some feedback on what device I should be looking for him for a decent upgrade as his birthday is coming up soon.

I don't have an insane budget or anything, so Im looking for something on the cheaper side that would still be a nice improvement from his S4, Thanks!

S7 if it's 300~ € around that, sometimes.

For that pricepoint, it offers a pretty great performance, battery life, Display, almost unbeatable Camera, and features like SD Slot, IP68, Qi Charging (still headphone jack.. it's sad to list this as a Feature...). Pretty much one of the best Smartphones 2016~

 

But: It's 2.5 years old, and it will probably get security updates for 6-10 months longer, then it should somewhat stop.

However.... coming from an old S3, no matter what, an s7 will be an incredibly HUGE upgrade even in Software.

 

If you don't care about stuff like Qi Wireless Charging, SD Slot, headphone jack, 1440p Display but instead want a more modern design with longer Updates, you can't do much wrong with an Android-One device. it coems with stock android, and promises 2 years version updates, and 3 years security updates.

 

Xiaomi A2 (200-240€~) is a VERY great device, an incredibly good value. Great performance, great camera for that price (not counting in old flaggships), good price, and it will get updates for the next 2-3 years. But since it has no SD Slot, it might make sense to take 64gb instead 32gb.

 

 

But since pretty much anything will be a huge upgrade... Is there anything important for your dad? Any feature, anything special to look out for? Does he take pictures alot with it? Does he have a Qi Qireless Charging pad or something like that?
