So I have an old 4790k lying around just waiting to be gamed on, so I have a few questions before considering what to do. I want my system to be Mini ITX with the Gigabyte mini 1080, but stil lwant to be able to cool the 4790k well when I overclock it. So here are a few questions:

How far will I need to overclock the 4790k to have it keep up with the 1080?

What grade of cooler will I need to be able to keep its temps regulated in a Mini ITX chasis? (im thinking 120mm AiO's like the H80i)

What is the best Mini ITX motherboard for this kind of overclocking?

Will I be able to get 1080p 144hz at low/medium settings on this setup?

Any and all suggestions are welcome

As long as you hit at least 4.5ghz you'll be fine for 144hz gaming .

Just buy a Core 500 ITX case it supports 240mm AIOs

Whatever Z...97? board has a good VRM with a decent heatsink.

But finding Z97 motherboards is likely to be a giant pain

do you already have DDR3 memory? If not maybe just sell the i7 for Ryzen or something

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Then find a board I guess

or this is how much a 6 core replacement would run, would be easier to cool due to the soldered IHS

that DDR4 kit is on some kind of crazy sale.
