Hello,

I want to upgrade my current GPU which is EVGA 1070 FTW to a ASUS STRIX 1080 Ti.

My current rig:

i7 6700k @4.4 Ghz

Z170-A

16GB DDR4

Noctua NH-U14S

2x 140mm fans

All of this is being powered by a Corsair RM550x PSU. I wanted to know if this PSU will be enough for my GPU upgrade? The PSU is 2 years old and has been running basically passive since day 1.

You'll be fine, the RMx is a great PSU and 550w is good enough for those specs. The only time you really need more than that is with an HEDT CPU or more than 1 GPU in most cases

CPU: Core i9 12900K || CPU COOLER : Corsair H100i Pro XT || MOBO : ASUS Prime Z690 PLUS D4 || GPU: PowerColor RX 6800XT Red Dragon || RAM: 4x8GB Corsair Vengeance (3200) || SSDs: Samsung 970 Evo 250GB (Boot), Crucial P2 1TB, Crucial MX500 1TB (x2), Samsung 850 EVO 1TB || PSU: Corsair RM850 || CASE: Fractal Design Meshify C Mini || MONITOR: Acer Predator X34A (1440p 100hz), HP 27yh (1080p 60hz) || KEYBOARD: GameSir GK300 || MOUSE: Logitech G502 Hero || AUDIO: Bose QC35 II || CASE FANS : 2x Corsair ML140, 1x BeQuiet SilentWings 3 120 ||

So I guess at max loads + OC we are looking at ~400-450W tops?

Yeah. Here's a system with an oc'ed 4960x pulling ~400w under load: https://www.anandtech.com/show/11180/the-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-ti-review/16
