Hey, I'm going to be upgrading my CPU to a ryzen 3 1200 ( or 1300x, unlikely though ) and i've heard that it can support up to 2667MHz of DDR4 but you can enable XMP to get it to work with 3200MHz RAM. I believe that AMDs ryzen CPUs benefit a  lot from higher memory clock speeds, but will getting closer to that 3200 limit cause diminishing return? Any recommended brands that have a good value for money? I'm looking to get 8GBs of DDR4 but don't want to spend any more than £100 on RAM ( I know that dual channel is better but I cba to pay more especially how much they go for right now ). Just need some advice on what to get, as it's a lil confusing. Cheers!

UPGRADE PLAN:

Athlon X4 860K _________ Ryzen 3 1200

Gigabyte A68HM FM2+ __________  Gigabyte A320M AM4

Crucial Ballistix 8GB DDR3 __________ 8GB DDR4??

Rig:

CPU: AMD Athlon X4 860K

MOBO: GIGABYTE A68H FM2+

GPU: MSi Radeon R7 360 2GB GDDR5

Storage: 1x ADATA 240GB SSD, 1x SEAGATE BARRACUDA 1TB HDD

PSU: Coolermaster 500W 80+ Power Supply

Cooling: Coolermaster Nepton 120XL Closed loop liquid cooler. Initiated in Push/pull config.

This is what you should be aiming for. Its a nice upgrade plattform and will offer nice performance. You should be able to do a nice 3.7 ghz OC on this on the stock cooler.

Thanks for the recommendation, why should I stay away from the A series mobos?

EDIT: Nice price point for an upgrade like that, thanks man!

A series boards are as stripped of components and features as possible, and doesnt allow for overclocking. Not to mentiom as a future plattform having a B series board is just better.

Awesome. So future-proofing, and more features. Thanks, also I'll use my CM Nepton 120XL to overclock it. Cheers for the advice.
