GPU Artifacts

Biplab

I have a Msi GTX 750ti, its almost 2 years old... it has been showing some strange artifacts since 2 3 days, a thing to be noted, at full load my gpu stays under 70' degrees with 2 of gpu fans spinning at 70% speed, and under 40'degree ideal, but when artifacts appears i saw one of the fan the isn't spinning, and noticed whatever percentage i dial in the fan speed in afterburner, those two fans doesn't appear to be maintaining that. Then i checked the if the gpu the fans aren't properly connected, and found that it has been popped out from one side for some reason (Headers of the fans). I plugged that properly, and Bingo! artifacs gone. But after a cold boot, it appears again. I don't know why thats happening. After that i ran several benchmarks, its worked (max temp Under 65 degrees), but artifacts doesn't appear. I am guessing if that is fan failure issue or not. Attached a picture of the artifacts below.

Most probably your GPU is dying, but make sure to check your PC with another display cable.

Probably your memory is barely unstable. Fixing the fan maybe lowered the temps just enough so it was. Try underclocking the memory a bit.

so lowering the clock speed will help to prevent this issue for while??? because i am not planning to buy a new gpu, not before 3 or 4 months... and what i really do with my pc, is 3d modeling rendering works. And softwares like substance painter, 3ds max, marmoset toolbag, Maya.. these uses the gpu a lot, not 100% usage but still...

Assuming the memory is the issue (which it probably is), it seems like the memory is unstable so lowering clock speeds woild help with that.

its happening once after a cold boot then it just works fine.. i lowered the memoryclock by 100mhz... artifacts after a cold boot is that normal???

Definitely not normal. Did lowering the clocks fix it?

i did lower the clock speed by 100MHz, as i said after cold boot it happens only once... then it works without any problems. I ran those softwares and different bechmarks. The artifacts doesn't show up...
