1060 vs 950 gtx

So, while not huge I was getting over a hundred fps on cinebench with my 950... I convinced my wife to let me buy a 1060 to upgrade too even though there were several founder edition 1080s for 499 at best buy... I didnt have the power supply to run two 1080s anyways...  I put the 1060 6gb geforce card in, power up... rerun the benchmark and I get 86 fps....

 

Is the card defective or is there something about 1060 that I don't know.

GTX 950 is a budget card, 1060 is mid tier card.

It should be compared with 970.

Yea but my 950 worked better then my 1060, I would think that's not the case.

Try uninstalling your drivers with DDU and then reinstalling them.

do you have the proper drivers updated? maybe a clean install to get rid of old 950 drivers as well? in terms of power, the 1060 (especially the 6gb version) should at least be a very noticable difference higher.

the GPU benchmark for cinebench was pretty flunky IIRC, use 3dmark firestrike or unigine instead for benchmarking GPUs.

I got about 5 FPS gain from a Driver uninstall and reinstall, i'm going to try using 3dmark and compare the two quick.  (quick is a term I would use after the forever download and install is finish)

Finished the Fire-strike on my 950 and got 2261...as low as 3 fps during the combined.... ewww

 

Is it odd that my GPU fans don't kick on?

And jackpot 10564 in firestrike 3dmark tests with my 1060 GTX.   

Cinebench is still showing some stupid results.
