Need help with Unraid Wifi Server Build

Diam

Hey guys I am trying to perfect a build that contains lots of storage and can also recover data if a drive happens to fail. Is the CPU or GPU important in this situation and what drives should I use? I don't want to go too expensive and want to stay on the cheaper side.

GPU would only be important if you’re passing it through to a VM. CPU depends on if you plan on running things like docker or VMs. Drives comes down often to price=quality. Depends how trusting you are.

neither the cpu or the gpu is important, as Giiman95 said, if you are planinng on a nas build any i3 would be fine for storage only, about the hdd i prefer wd reds

I built mine from a pre-built great way to recycle older hardware your on the right track with unRAID as you can put almost any drive into it as long as the parity drive is the largest I prefer WD Reds have had good experience with them. UnRAID allows for 2 parity disks so in theory you can loose 2 disks and still recover the array without any loss of data it is also nice as you can expand the array by simply installing a new drive no need to restructure anything cpu and gpu are independent of that
