Hi, I wish to upgrade this laptop with an SSD, since the 1TB WD Blue is horrendously slow. I opened it today, and saw that there was an M.2 slot in it. However, I searched up the laptop, and it apparently supports NVMe? I can't find any information about what size it needs to be though, so I'm wondering which one I need to get. From what I remember, the gap was around 6-8cm? (I can double check this more accurately)

This would be the new boot drive as well, but I've heard people having issues booting from an NVMe drive. Is this issue fixed now?

One question: do you really need NVMe?

Might as well get NVMe if the system supports it? Might move it over to a desktop later as well.

The real question is do you actually benefit from NVMe or not
