Any luck booting into safe mode?

Maybe take the GPU out and see if it will boot? That way you can confirm its a GPU issue?

Hit f8 during boot and load into safe mode and uninstall afterburner and rivatuner.  start hitting f8 after the bios loads but before windows starts to load.  if you cant get f8 to work you need to disable fast boot in the bios.

I don't have onboard graphics on with mobo and I don't have another graphics card to hand at the moment to test with

So it will boot into safe mode for all of maybe 20-30 sec's and then complete black screen GPU fan ramps up to 100% and and to hard reset . . . Think I've fried the GPU

Oh, my bad sorry.

Sounds like booting into safe mode is by far the best action at the moment. If that goes nowhere then time for a new course of action.

Yeh , no it's just locking up and black screen / GPU fan ramp up , it's like afterburner has altered the GPU bios , how would I access that to be able to bring it bk down again

Is reinstalling windows completely out of the picture?

Maybe disconnect your drive and attempt starting the process of a reinstall to see if it will even post into a windows install.
