Hello. This is my first post. :)

I'm looking for a laptop for my girlfriend to play. She is mostly playing LoL and Overwatch right now. The budget is 700€ (we are in Spain). I have found some good options. The best laptop I have seen is a Lenovo Legion Y520, but there are many version of it. The two best option for my budget are quite similar: 8 GB de RAM (it could be expand later), 1 TB de HDD, Nvidia GTX 1050, Windows 10, etc.. But there are details:

  •  i7-7700HQ with Nvidia GTX 1050 2Gb
  •  i5-7300HQ with Nvidia GTX 1050 4Gb

Both config come with the same price, 699€. I have watch some gameplays on Youtube with both configurations and seems like the i5 with 1050 4gb has some better performance in FPS, but it is just marginal. Which one do you think should I go for?

If you know about any other notebook within my budget I will be happy to hear about it. Thanks a lot in advance!

I kind of like the Lenovo Legion because the possibles upgrades. It comes with an empty memory slot and m.2 slots. I could update the RAM up to 16gb and have a M.2 HDD. I don't think the Dell G3 will be upgradable. Also, G3 is more expensive. But thanks for your answer.

You can do that on the Dell G3 as well. Also the cheapest Dell option has a 4GB 1050 with the i5-8300H, which is as fast as the 7700HQ, so you're not losing anything at all. It also has an M.2 slot and you can upgrade the RAM too. I'm sorry but your argument is already invalid unless there's a regional issue.

Any other models with 7700HQ/8300H?

If the games you play doesn't require tons of VRAM (in this case, I think 2GB is fine), go for 7700HQ+1050 2GB. 7300HQ is really dated

There is a regional issue as well. The cheapest G3 I could buy from Dell in Spain is 789€ , but It is a 17 inch laptop. I don't like that option, if so I will prefer  a desktop, but she wants a laptop. I have checked, there are not 15inch laptops with a graphics card in the Spanish catalogue right now. I think Dell doesn't bring all its laptops to Europe. So, I'm afraid Dell is not an option for me. Thanks for your comment anyway.

Then that is something that should be stated at the beginning, not after mindlessly countering potentially better deals. It ends up being a waste of everyone's time when we're only trying to help.

I found an HP Pavilion Gaming 15-CX0054NS. i5-8300H/8GB/1TB/GTX 1050 4GB/15.6 685€. Seems like a really good choice, although I have seem some videos trying to open similar Pavilion Gaming laptops and I don't think that will be easy..

What do you think?

Doing some Youtube-review research I have found three videos of LoL with different configurations:

  • i5 7300HQ GTX 1050 4GB >
  • i7-7700 GTX 1050 2GB (double RAM, but I don't think that would have a big impact on FPS)>
  • i5-8300H GTX 1050 >

I'm not a LoL player, I don't know which settings are they doing, maybe there is someone how can tell by the videos?

The three are very similar on FPS counts average. But I have notice:

  • i7-7700 drops to around 60 FPS when action is happening,
  • i5-7300 reach the top peaks, around 130FPS, also drops sometimes.
  • i5-8300 is the more stable, around 95.

Any thoughts? Thanks again to those how are taking time to help. I appreciate it. :)
