So my friend had a really old video card which had been lying dead for years. But apparently, my mood was to build a retro system.

Before I went checking what was wrong, I got a PCB diagram for my model (although the VRM and Mosfet layout was a bit different) but the first thing I saw was obvious SCRATCHED PCIE PINS. Well, I'm actually looking to solder them but not really being sure of the risks. Because I'll be paring that in my personal mobo, I don't want it dead if I do for the card

If I short out the connections of the interface plane, do I have ricks of somehow killing my PCIe slot and any component along the bus circuit?

console.log("way to pro");

If the are only scratched and still make contact it would be fine. I you can post a picture it could help.

They are just so old, it is kind of rusted and the contacts kind of look gone.

It could use a good cleaning for sure, looks like the connectors might short if that's metal or corrosion between the right most strips. Especially since those are supposed to be power connectors there is a risk of a short.

If they get short, do I have risks of killing the PCIe slot on my motherboard somehow/? Shorting out the pins in the interface plane may do something to the daughterboard itself but not sure if it does affect the mainboard's connection or not.

I dont know, there might be some protection or not. I wouldn't try it without cleaning it and making sure it wont short between the fingers.

Ok, I'll try cleaning them first, but still, my confidence says it won't work until I solder them (without shorting them of course)
