So, around December time I decided to go full Thunderbolt 3/USB 3.1G2 and bought myself an Asus ThunderboltEX 3 add-in card, a Plugable Thunderbolt 3 Docking Station which also supports Thunderbolt 3 40G, USB 10G and Display port.

As this is a desktop I needed a longer cable than the usual 0.5M cables so I also got myself a 2M active cable that should support full 40gb.

Since setting all this up, I have continued to have some issues with the setup. Mainly with USB. One of the USB ports on the dock goes to a large usb 3 hub and its not uncommon for one, multiple or all usb devices to disconnect for a second before reconnecting.

I have tried using a short 0.5M cable and everything seems to work fine so I am looking for either a 2M active cable that works for full thunderbolt 40G, USB 3.1G2 and DP1.2 or a 1M version.

I have looked at cables like the Startech 1m Thunderbolt 3 USB C Cable (40Gbps) - Thunderbolt and USB Compatible. which sounded promising but when looking at the specs it only supports usb 2 or display port?

Are their any other decent brands that make fully compliant type C cables that supports every feature or do you need to pick what features you have?

OK. After researching this for a while I have discovered that Intel apparently doesn't allow USB 3.1 G1 or G2 in active cables.

The cable I wan't is out of spec and can not be made... at least not made that is certified.

I don't know if this applies to optical cables yet.
