Hi, I have an old Dell that is running Windows XP. I have been trying to boot from the CD drive so I can install puppy Linux, but everytime it sits there for about 10 seconds and then just boots from the harddrive. Can someone please HELP ME?

sounds like either the CD/DVD drive has issues with the media or the media has issues with the drive.

verify the drive integrity by playing a music CD and see if it can read a data disc. if it can do both of those, then i'd suspect the media holding the other OS isn't legible for the drive.
