Help with HP omen monitor

My HP - OMEN by HP 24.5" LED FHD Monitor is great and has no issues, however im currently looking into getting a capture card to record my console gameplay. If my monitor cant output sounds without a speaker connected to it directly, will the console audio go through with the HDMI and be in the final recording? For example, while im recording some gameplay on my console and i can't hear any sound since there is no speaker connected, will the game audio be put through the capture card and be on the recording?
