Planing a ITX PC for College use

Hey guys, I am a fresh man at college in China.

For personal reasons I didn't want to buy a laptop, and my budget is 6000CNY (About 870USD)

I think ITX pc is great for transporting and upgrading,but heat might be a problem.

Besides, I have a Asus GTX 970 available so I think I can use it on my ITX pc.

I usually use computer to do picture and video editing (PS PR AE), as to gaming, 1080p ultra settings is suitable for me.

Here is my plan.

 

Case: Silverstone ML08B

CPU: Intel i7-8700

CPU Cooler: CRYORIG G7

Motherboard: Asus B360-i

Nvme SSD: Samsung 970 EVO 256G

Memory: G.skill 8g@2666mhz * 2

Power Supply: Corsair SF450 

TOTAL: 854USD

 

The problem is that whether I should use i5-8400, for comparing to i7-8700 it can save me 115USD.

But I think 8700 may be a better choice as I may use this computer for the whole college.

Mabye i5-8600 has the same boost as 8600k stock.

I would get a sata SSD and a 8700k, that way you can undervolt the CPU whilst having more control over the clock speeds.

I would keep everything the same except change out the nvme for a ssd, youll want the larger capacity and the speeds wont really matter THAT much in comparison since a SSD is already pretty super fast anyways.

Thank you,but 8700k cost me more money and the heat is not easy to control

The space is very limited in this ITX case,and a ssd will take up a 2.5'',so maybe a cheaper ssd would be a better choice.

This image is from Sliverstone's official web page.

It can install two 2.5'' hard drive and a 3.5'' hard drive (need to remove the optical drive bracket)

B360-i have two nvme slots,so I think it's better to use them rationally

Just get a 500gb - 1tb ssd. You can get the 1tb's for like 200 dollars nowadays. 128gb is not going to be big enough, if 42 dollars is your budget then get a mechnaical drive and upgrade to ssd later.
