Hello everyone,

im a video editor and I want to build a new pc. I edit all my videos in premiere pro and after effect. But now is my question: what video card do I need and which brand? Self I thought of a nvidia gtx 1070ti founders edition because of the price, or do you really need the graphics card of Asus just for the cooling? And is the 1070ti even enough for 4K 100p video editing?

Thanks!

I suggest a 1070 since the 1070ti still has only gddr5. If you go to gddr5x with the 1080, it would be more worthwhile. Also, heavily multithreaded CPU is best for premier pro. A high end i7 with integrated graphics accelerating the workload is fastest.

Edit: also, the cooling solution isn't a big deal, but the ones Nvidia sells aren't terribly good

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

There's a reason why content creators need dGPUs, and that's to accelerate rendering in some situations.

The fastest would be a good CPU and GPU. For your purposes a 1070ti should work just fine.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

That's not what I meant. Adobe products let you use Integrated graphics alongside the GPU to further accelerate workloads. It's the only thing that makes consumer Intel faster than consumer AMD in Adobe

Oke, so then there is another question: what cpu do I need to buy? I was looking at the intel 7 8700K and the Ryzen 7 2700x. Which do you think performs better in scrolling through your timeline and that kinda stuff? Thanks!

8700k should be better. Also, check out if there are any demos of performance on YouTube. Those are very popular CPUs so there should be online material.

Wow thanks for sharing your knowledge! Can I ask you more questions in the future?!

Oke so I watched some videos about the i7 8700K and they said that the scrubbing through the timeline wasn’t that smooth in 4K 60p against the iMac 8 core and the same specs, he said that he ran into the max of his cpu so is that going to be a problem?

If I recall correctly, the imac 8 core runs a little slow. Will you be overclocking the CPU? Was the CPU in the video overclocked?

Yes i will overclock it and in the video it was to. Maybe it was the ram (32gb) that hold him down?

While 64 gigabytes can be practical in this case, if the test video put 32gb of ram with the i7 and 64 with the xeon, that's a mismatched test. I believe you would benefit much from 64gb of ram and an overclocked i7.

Okee, so I am watching some helpful videos and I saw something very interesting: , the Ryzen 2700x actually is better in scrubbing through the timeline! What do you think about these photos?

Ah yes I see. If you prefer playback speed to render time, this is probably a good bet then. It's also not going to be significantly worse to get ryzen in terms of render time, so if that's better for your workflow then I recommend it.

Yess but this YouTuber did said that he recommended the 8700K because of the small problems that sometimes happen with Ryzen because intel and adobe work together. Just the one thing i think is the most important is smooth timelines because with my MacBook now, i get extremely bad performance in that cenairo.
