lower end sli or higher end single video card?

Hey guys this is my first post to the forum been wathching the channel for some time.  Anyways im looking to upgrade my system hopefully here shortly but i was wandering what your guys opinion was on whether i should buy 2 960 for sli setup or go with 1 1080

1 1080. I'd wait for next gen to drop though since it should be close now with the Turing release

well if you are aware of what applications use SLI, then I think you should evaluate if it's worth it to you based on what actually uses it. Most of the time, however, a 1080 will be better.

Go with one 1080. And then down the road you can SLI the 1080.

 

But I think you will find less headaches with one good card as opposed to two low end cards.

1 1080. SLI is always an odd business and there isn’t a ton of support for it. The 1080 is reliable af. I would not bother tryin sli at all as there are still a couple of types of programs/games that cant even utilize the second card.

GTX 1080 is already $399.99 brand new on EVGA ebay store price will fall even more in next 2 weeks. SLI doesn't work all the time so single fastest card you can afford is best option.

Avoid SLI if you can.  It is not worth the hassle until you get to the level of Titan XP not being enough performance.

Well I guess it depends on the game and res you play at. In a scenario I use one of my rigs for, I prefer my two older cards as they perform better on surround on the old games I use it for. Though you can’t compare a Titan Black to a 960. 

 

So id go 1080 even though it isn’t that great.
