So while putting my pc together I was following the aio installation instructions and plugged the fans in the splitter that connects to the block that then goes into the cpu fan plug.

when I booted up the pc I saw an error saying I didn’t detect any fans, looking on the board I noticed an aio pump header so I plugged the block into that and plugged the fans in the cpu and cpu aux headers. Is that how I was supposed to plug it all in?

Yeah any fans can get plugged up to the CPU_FAN header so they regulate their speed based on the CPU temp and if your mobo has a pump header then it's perfectly fine to plug the AIO pump into that.

So for your specific mobo and AIO the two fans on the radiator should be plugged into the CPU_FAN and CPU_OPT (top right of the CPU socket) and the AIO pump should be plugged into the AIO_PUMP header (bottom left from the CPU socket) and all should be fine.
