So I was wondering if anyone knew where to get really cheap reliable servers?? I have a single IBM x3650 m3 that I got with 2 six core processors, 32gb ram, and 4 tb of storage for 80 dollars. now im not dumb, I know that I wont find ANYTHING like that around. But I was looking in the 200 and under range for the price. Ive checked a lot of used server sites, and they are expensive. plz help trying to find one that can old LOTS of hdds. (doesn't need to include hdds..)

What do you want this server to do? If you just want lots of storage id get a external sas enclosure and add it to that server. Look at things like this if you just want more drives https://www.ebay.com/itm/NetApp-DS4243-24-Bay-Disk-Shelf-2x-PSU-2x-IOM3-Module-24x-Caddies-No-HDD/253755913242?epid=1241496066&hash=item3b1507f41a%3Ag%3AM~QAAOSwomVa-fZC&_sacat=0&_nkw=netapp+ds4243&_from=R40&rt=nc&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1311.R3.TR11.TRC1.A0.H0.Xnetapp.TRS0

If it were me I'd look around your area for businesses that are closing down or upgrading their hardware. I've gotten some real cheap(or even free) switches, servers, battery backups, etc by doing that.

That's perfect!! But is there an actual pc in there to put an os on???

This is only a disk shelf which looks good for the cost of the machine although you would need a computer or specialized computer/s to use it as a server.

I would agree with this for the computer, since you do not really need a lot of computational power for most applications needing only to run a disk shelf and read and write to it, an old computer or server would be a good choice although if it may need some minor upgrades to make it more optimized such as certain drive controller/s. This is something that I believe that Kyle from Bitwit has covered in the video he made where he showed their new NAS solution (they used a PC with some HDD controller/s in the PC plus a disk shelf which they loaded with 8TB Toshiba drives). This would be a great option considering the high scalability of the solution.

Hope this information post was helpful  ?,
