Scratch build ? And some stupid questions

Long story short ( sorta)

Never been into computers until a few months ago after my hand me down work station started dying. 

Used mainly for video editing gopro footage. 

Brought a dell 5675 that was marketed as a gaming machine. Brought a few games and got hooked on pubg.

Also brought a ultrawide screen.

Looking at channels like linus tech tips got me wanting to build something. 

This started of as a streaming computer for the loung room. 

Turned into a case upgrade for the dell into 2 systems. 

One for main gaming . In win A1 

Ryzen 1700x water cooled, MSI gtx1080 gaming x gpu etc and the lounge system is  a inwin 301 with a ryzen 2600x water cooled with a MSI gtx 1060 gaming x.

This left me with a ryzen 2200g and rx580 ( dell so really a underclocked 480)

A m.2 ssd, Hard drive and a psu.

So decided to make something out of left overs. 

Don't be to judgemental as its just the beginning with lots to do.

My questions are. Atm the motherboard is on nylon standoffs.

Do these need to be metal? 

Is it supposed to be eathed ? 

I am thinking not but thought i seen a video were it said the io shield is a earth?
