I've recently purchased an Asus PB287Q display as it was on a big discount and I already hate it. I can't get used with the terrible colours of a TN panel. So I am going to replace it soon and I am looking for recommendations to make a more informed purchase this time. My budget is £500 ($650), maybe push it to £600 ($750) if really need to. I will be purchasing that here in the UK. Overall I am looking for a prosumer monitor that offers a good viewing experience (including blu-rays, Amazon and Netflix), some high-res photo editing from time to time, possibly some CAD and occasionally some gaming (both PC and PS4); also a lot of writing text and coding. In case it matters, I am going to be using it in a dual monitor setup beside my LG 29UM69G 29” 2560x1080 IPS 1ms 75Hz 21:9 Gaming Monitor.

What I am generally looking in terms of features is the following:

1. Must have features
- 4K 16:9

- IPS (maybe I would consider a VA if it has really good colours)

- very good sRGB coverage

- Display Port connection (my computer has DP1.3 ports)

- 10 bit colours (I would consider 8bit + FRC but I would really prefer true 10 bit)

- VESA wall mounting

2. Would love to have

- HDR (it's probably not going to be true HDR at that price, but it's still something I'd love to see)

- good Adobe RGB and DCI-P3 colour coverage

3. Would like to see

- G-sync (unlikely, but just thought I should put it up here)

- at least two DP ports and one HDMI port

- integrated power supply (no external ``brick`` as Linus calls it)

- narrow bezels (my 21:9 has super-small bezels)

4. Don't care about

- stand (going to be removed anyway most probably)

- number of USBs

- FreeSync

- high-frequency rates

- integrated speakers

- weird gaming features like digital crosshairs and timers

- accessories and cables

Also, I would prefer the monitor to be between 24'' and 34'' (27'' probably being the sweet spot for me). Please remember I have an 29'' ultrawide monitor on my desk already so I don't want to hear about 43'' monitors (also, I'd love to be able to actually rotate the screen).

I haven't managed to read many reviews, but, for now, these are some of the options I am considering (please let me know which one do you think it is best and if you know any better ones, please feel welcome to suggest some):
- BenQ BL2711U  - £419 - there seems to be some confusion on whether this is true 10bit or 8-bit + FRC; please let me know if you know about that; I love that it has the auto-pivot feature (not sure if it would work without the stand though?)

- BenQ PD3200U - £630 - seems to be widely suggested but I fail to see how it is better (or different, except for screen size) than the BenQ BL2711U

- ASUS PB27UQ - £565 - is this true 10bit? I think the monitor controls are as shit as on my current Asus PB287Q

- LG 27UK650 - £446 - HDR, but it uses 8-bit + FRC and peak brightness is only 450nits; also nice bezels; There are also the LG 27UK600 and LG 27UK850 which are priced around the same value (+/-£50) but they don't seem to not have any different features/specs?

- Dell UltraSharp InfinityEdge U2718Q  - £624 - HDR, but only 350nits brightness; apparently HDR is supported only over HDMI

You probably aren't getting 10-bit, or most of that other stuff.

This one looks to be the best value bit higher end 4k display on the UK part picker anyways

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I prefer Asus PB27UQ. It's much better than PB287Q. 10-bit color IPS. and not overly expensive.

BenQ PD3200U. is also a good choice, it's 10-bit. and 32" for 4K is way better than 27". Text size is not too small and you have extra space to work with.

BenQ BL2711U. I'm not sure if it's true 10-bit. But for professional work monitor, SW or PD series are better than BL series.

LG 27UK650. I would avoid it. and HDR is not very useful. Unless you just wanna play game or watch movie only.

btw ever heard of Dell UP3216Q? That's the best possible you could get, 99.5% Adobe RGB. (P.S. it's also costly)

That is quite expensive in the UK ($300-400 more than in the US). What do you think of the Dell UltraSharp InfinityEdge U2718Q?

U2718Q is pretty good overall, but it's an 8-bit FRC display. If you really want a true 10-bit, then get either Asus PB27UQ or BenQ PD3200U.
