Hello everyone,

I used to have an eGPU setup running on my Lenovo P51, but I was having major issues with it. Eventually, I returned to a natural desktop setup. However, I'm considering selling my desktop parts and returning to an eGPU setup to save space and be more efficient with my workflow. This thread will relate to one of the major issues I wanted to ask about with having an eGPU setup. I appreciate any responses to this thread.

In my initial eGPU setup, I had the Quadro M1200 from the P51 and the GTX 1070 in an Akitio Node 3 working together. Now there were issues when switching between the two cards (I'm assuming this has to be because of the different series of graphics cards). Whenever I used the 1070 at home and had to disconnect the eGPU enclosure to take my laptop to school, it would mess up the display drivers of the P51. For example, whenever I needed to use the HDMI or Mini-DP connection from my laptop, it would mess up my internal display and show no output on the external display. Every time I needed to use the integrated HDMI or Mini-DP port, I would need to re-install the Quadro drivers everytime I needed to use the integrated display connections (which was at least once a week a couple months ago). I was wondering if anyone here has had any similar issues with this on the P51 or any other systems, and any workarounds that I could do to avoid this situation. Thank you again.
