Wall plug scents chemicals damaged floor

Beef Boss

Does anyone know what chemicals could be in there? I had one spill and guess what! It ate through my linoleum floor tile top coat and middle coat. Now all that is left on the spots where it spilled is the bottom part of the tile.

This scares me, if the chemicals can eat material like this what is it doing when it's released into the air? We breathe that scent in, isn't that dangerous?

Well, the plug-in is basically an electronic version of an scented oil burner. Without a specific breakdown of what the ingredients are I can't say for definite but it will contain some sort of neutral carrier (probably a light oil) and various fragrance components.

Generally speaking most 'lino' is made from PVC plastic these days. PVC (and a number other common plastics for that matter) will be readily attacked by esters, ketones and ethers, all of which are common fragrance components.

All that's happened is that you've brought two incompatible substances together - the results are predictable.

I really wouldn't worry about it.
