Does the I3-6100 bottlenecks the sh*t out of the RX 580 8GB? Or I’m just doing something wrong?

So, I upgraded from a 1050 2gb to a msi RX 580 because I found a great deal ($160)

As the title says, I’ve got an I3-6100. I plugged my gpu in, downloaded Aferburner, Rivatuner and Adrenalin drivers... deleted GeForce experience (though there are some GeForce files left, they are named Nvidia GeForce-).

Then proceeded to show on screen  some live performance through rivatuner and boom, performance is almost as bad as with the 1050 2gb. I started pubg, and Jesus Christ, the gpu goes from 0 to 100 and viceversa every tick, cpu doesn’t even gets fully used (I don’t believe ram is an issue, as I have 12 gb, and Vram is not getting fully used anytime soon), same happened with rust and gta v, rainbow six did pretty good actually. Is there a way I can stabilise this?, maybe there are some nvidia drivers trying to do something, or amd adrenaline is not responding properly (It didn’t detect Rainbow six and pubg)

If the gpu goes from 0 to 100 and again to 0 every second it might be a driver issue. I had the same problem with my r9 fury crossfire. the second gpu did that and even the windows desktop was unusable. i deleted all graphics drivers and installed the lastest version and everything went back to normal

Try using this to remove all graphics drivers and then try again with a different AMD driver.

that CPU will bottleneck the shit out of that card, i had the G4560 (almost identical CPU, only 0.2Ghz slower) and a rx470 and the it bottlenecked the 470 i can't even imagine how bad it should be in a 480

Then why does it performs good with a gtx 1060 6gb?

And why do my setup crushes rainbow six siege with a constant 120 fps on ultra?

it will botlleneck the 1060 also for sure in most games

Not all games are equal, if the game doesn't use much CPU you will notice less and dude that's a 2015 game, a 3 years old.

Just see if playing your cpu goes to 100%, if goes to 100% your cpu is holding your gpu and every time you get 100% usage it will stuters

I’ve put a gtx 1060 in my pc before and I can tell you that performance was waaay better. Pubg as a reference, little to no stutter with the 1060. Extreme stutter with the 1050 and annoying but not always present stutter with the RX 580.

How old a game is doesn’t matter, crysis 3 is a 5 yo game and is hard to run. I think I might have some issues related to software. I tried deleting all Nvidia and GeForce related files, I’m bout to test it out

bottleneck traditional is when your gpu usage is holding back but if your cpu is lower than 100% and your gpu is giving you fps enough probably the bottleneck will happen at higher fps (you will have higher fps with a better cpu) but if you are fine with your fps and cpu usage is ok dont worry about bottlenecking

My cpu stays at 80-100, but the gpu goes from 0 to 100 and then back to 0 rapidly. That didn’t happen with the gtx 1060

In that case I'd recommend something like a Ryzen 5 2600 and B450 motherboard, you can reuse everything else provided your case fits ATX boards and you have an SSD, etc

Boi I got no money, I just bought that 580 because it was cheap af

100% cpu usage = bad and not playable so if stay at 100% you will stutter , a rx580 can be pushed more than a 1060 , its meant to have 2 rx 580 to have a 1080 performance xD at least that said amd when i bought my rx 480

I allways start recomeding a 2600 and end with a 8400 better value for gaming
