Is the Lenovo ThinkPad E485 a good laptop?

It all depends on your config. I would not take a 500GB HDD. I would get an SSD, especially for a laptop that will be carried around.

You NEED graphics in a 14" slim laptop? Don't expect a miracle from that Vega 10. What's the laptop going to be used for exactly?

Sure it the MX150 has better GPU performance, the thing is if its worth it.

The Vega 8 benchmark wise should be in between the GTX 940M and the MX 150 (with both having the bonus of GDDR, instead of shared).

The problem is there are no benchmarks of the E485 out right now. It has a very interesting position where it could be very interesting for university with a few older games.

It's behind a 940MX actually

I have seen benches of both better and a bit slower/on par.

It really depends on the implementation.

The dedicated graphics memory is a huge plus of course on the 940MX.

Proof? From what I know, Vega 8 not even close to 940MX GDDR5. Vega 10 with dual channel memory and some OC may succeed the performance of 940MX GDDR5.

I just checked on UserBenchmark and on Notebookcheck and the vega 8 tends to come out on top (not much though).

I think that at videocardbenchmark the Vega 8 is overperforming...

Do these benchmarks profit from dedicated videoram?

UserBenchmark and videocardbenchmark don't reflect to accurate results. Real world in game tests are much better for performance testing

I'm going to use the laptop for university ( Cad software) and a bit of rainbow six siege here and there :). Would this be good?

For CAD, I suppose, as long as it's not Solidworks. Siege should be decent at lower settings.

Can I just get the lenovo,??

Also can, but don't expect good GPU performance (even with Vega GPU) and business laptop quality (E series is consumer chassis)
