Have i damaged my cpu and other components ?

I bought used ASUS P8Z77-V-LE PLUS for 40$ to replace my old FOXCON H61MXE-V.I replaced everything, reset bios on Z77,removed the battery and than i installed fresh Windows 10.This Z77 board has the latest bios version installed (O910 3/18/2014).

I downloaded the drivers for z77 but i noticed that my download speed was low and going down and down...disabled windows update, installed lan drivers but nothing.

I downloaded Speccy and i sow that my CPU/GPU temp were higher than before, especially cpu temp was going up to 50C.In task mennager the average SSD response time was spiking and was going up too 500ms+ but when i did ass benchmark everything was good.Downloaded SSD kingston menager, same problem.

Also there were severe stutters in some occasions while i was downloading, opening or installing something, sometimes after restart the pc wont boot or i will just see black screen. In gpuz i could not do benchmark and it was saying that my GTX 960 is running at x8 v1.1/3.0 (sometimes got even to x4) speed but on the old H61 was x16 3.0.RAM speed was increasing for no reason,in speccy one time was saying that was running at 2x804MHz than after restart 860MHz ????

Did memtest but ram was fine, replaced in DIMM 2/4 and the pc wont boot up.I have put it back in DIMM 1/3 than beeping sound, meaning there is no VGA detected.Installed my 2x HDD and black screen at boot.

I did new fresh install os Windows 10 but the problems even got worse.

Went to bios and i set Pcie from auto to gen 3.0/but there was saying that was x4 again. After applying this change the pc immediately shuts  down, power up and again shut down and power but gpuz is showing again x4 3.0.I also set PCI Express x16_3 slot to x4 mode but nothing changed.Uninstalled nvidia drivers with ddu, done that twice but same.Tried to boot with intel hd,than put back my gtx 960...same.

In task menager i noticed that cpu speed most of the time was 1.57GHz and than spiking like hell up to 3.4Ghz max.The temperatures were also higher than before +5/10C

Got back to my H61,installed everything back,i had some stutters but not like on Z77 mobo and down speed was fine.Tested in Beam NG and Heaven benchmark everything was fine.GPU temperature was rising fast in this tests.

Again, installed everything to Z77,(I putted my RAM stick in DIMM1/2 single channel mode)new OS install, thinking that something was badly connected and again, lags, cpu spikes and i could not even open programs because there was some system 32 error, after entering advanced mode-message like this "Windows failed to start.A recent hardware or software etc.... again installed win 10.Service Host:Local system is eating my internet speed, cant do anything. Now i will install again nvidia and other drivers but im afraid that i have damaged the CPU while installation or this mobo was faulty and caused some damage.

I noticed some flux on this mobo, asked the guy that i bought form and he told me that everything was fine and that this mobo was not bad,he also told me that he used this for overclocking his I5 3570k and RAM.

COMPONENTS:

ok, your style of writing is difficult to read for me. maybe because english isn't my first language but yeah.

what i understand is you swapped motherboard and then weird stuff started happening, is that correct? and when you went back to your old mobo it wasn't as bad?

also you might want to edit that... (i'll delete that quote later don't worry)

Yes im sorry for that,i was really frustrated for days and did not noticed how i have written that.I wanted to say that i did AS SSD Benchmark and that everything was good.

Yes when i swapped to my old motherboard,GPU-Z was saying that my card runs at PCI-Express x16 3.0 and in render test too. Also i did not have problems with RAM but have noticed some stutters but not like on the Z77 board.

Now i have swapped again and using Z77,dont know why but again GPU-Z is saying that my GTX 960 can support and supports PCIe x16 3.0 but for some reason GPU-Z is saying that my GTX 960 is running at PCIe x4 v1.1/did render test but same result.

have you tried setting the bios to default settings?

i deleted that quote as promised :)

Yes,i first moved the jumper than removed CMOS battery.Nothing helps.

Strange thing is that the first time i have installed Z77,GPU-Z was telling that my GTX 960 was running at x8 v1.1/3.0...after uninstalling drivers, installing new ones, moving to intel HD,configuring pcie in bios, somehow the speed was back in place x16 3.0 but than again, after shut down x4 and now im stuck at this speed.

Should i reset bios again,or have i done something wrong ?

it seems like it's just broken. it is used after all, and it was very cheap for what it is...

5min after this i did again bios cleaning with jumper. The pc turned on and immediately  there was shut down, turn on and shut down....after 5s pc turned up again and same problems. Before i do this reset i noticed in bios that my i5 3470 was somehow overclocked i mean it was running at 3260MHz. Its speed should be 3200 and after the reset the speed was back in place.

To be 100% that i havent done any damage to my cpu or other components, tomorrow i will go to my local pc repair shop.

Thx again for reading and helping me.

Have a nice day :)

Yes i mean, before i reset the bios even if i did it before two times, cpu speed this time was 3260mhz and after reset 3200mhz.Ram was also somehow oc to 859Mhz and after reset it got back to 804mhz.... On old mobo was 800 (1600mhz) for both ram sticks

This is just stupid....I got my PC back from service, they have done 24h tress test, checked another components and told me that everything was fine, but they have not managed to fix the GPU problem running at x4...one of them told me that mb can be causing that problem because it was bought used.

Got back home disappointed, had rough argument with the seller that was guaranteeing again that the mobo was in great and that i have messed up something.

The real shock came when i turned up my PC and than GPU-Z says that my GTX 960 is running at x16 3.0.I could not believe, have done GPU-Z render test and yes x16 3.0.

My RAM was installed in DIMM1/2 single channel,i have dislocated in DIMM1/3 for Dual channel and better performance and everything was good.

Tested in Beam NG,GPU at 100%,framerates are going like from 50-60 like before, cpu at 70%.....i had some micro stutters while i was playing but i think was caused by GPU bottlenecking my CPU because it was running at 100% all the time like before. The micro stutters was not common thing on my old mb but they did not bother me so much. (60 fps,but 17ms frametime)

I can hear some sound from mb,think its from the chipset but sy ssd is also making noises, they are not loud but i can spot them

I will do some gaming now,but i want tour opinion....

If everything is great in games, should i run this Z77 even if i had many problems with it,or should i replace it with my H61?

Can i do damage to other components or not?

Thx again

Another thing, can you see the CPU speed? I dont get it.

#1 I have done this today,Z77,GPU running at x16 3.0.Why is cpu running at 3209? should be 3192MHz

#2 Done on Z77,GPU running at x4,

IMG_20180805_230709.jpg

#3 This was benchmark on H61,old mobo,GPU at x16 3.0 and cpu  default at 3192MHz
