silverstone or seasonic?

im building a threadripper 1950-x server and I put everything into it and it says 600watts on pc part picker so im going with an 850 watt unit for noise and such

 

I made a parametric filter on pc part picker for the psu:

should I go for the silverstone or the seasonic?

The seasonic is tier 1, silverstone is tier 2. Both should be good. I recommend saving the $50

They are overkill, just get a Focus Plus Platinum for less.

Seasonic would be my recommendation.

 

As a side note I found this random list with PSU manufacturers and the actual companies that manufacture PSUs for them.  No idea how accurate it is.

alright well the seasonic is $30 more and I like how it looks better so I guess I will go with that one

And completely unneeded.. even a Corsair HX is a better choice.

 

Be warned, the PRIME is loud. The Focus kinda is, but it's bearable.

currently my servers are a bunch of low end machines from 2008 or 09 networked together all running one thing each so I figure this will be more efficient

The Focus Plus Platinum is considered a high end unit. The PRIME is considered both the industries best yet completely unnecessary.

A hard drive will use 10W at most. Just go with a cheaper, but still very high end PSU.

btw I went with titanium because I still live with my parents and being able to say "ya its a threadripper with a 180 watt TDP but I got the most efficient powersupply I could" actually helps with not having to pay the power bill for my home lab (im going to the local community college for computer networking)

do you have a recomendation on what one will be the quietest?

I just replaced all the fans on my gaming rig with noctua because it was bugging me and this server is going to sit right next to it so I would like it to be quiet

 

I figured if I got a higher wattage it wont get as hot and wont need as much fan to do its job

Who makes a PSU isn't that important, if they have good machinery.

What the Contractee specifys and wants is what's important, not who made it!

 

So if something is wrong, in roughly 9 out of 10 times, the contractee is to blame, not the manufacturer.

Simply personal experience...I've had no issues with Seasonic PSUs in the past.
