Upgrade or not 4670k to 7600k

Hi,

 

At the moment i'm running a 4670k@4.2ghz with an evga 1080 ftw with 16gig ddr3.

I run it on my 4k screen and most of the game run great but some games just have fps drops etc. i play alot of gta v at the moment and my cpu usage is always 100%.

i'm thinking about overclocking it further but i tried it before and i believe i have a bad chip and can't go past 4.3 ghz. 

So i was thinking about upgrading to a 7600k. but i'm not sure if it's a cpu bottleneck and if this chip is sufficient enough that i'll notice any difference.

 

i hope somebody could help me out.

You should try and find a used i7 4770K or i7 4790K on Ebay instead.

no, for god's sake. That's still a quad core chip and performance hasnt gone up that much to justify the cost. Since Haswell i7s hold on to their value quite well, not recommending them either. I'd say buy the cheapest Ryzen 5 6core instead as it gives the most fps for each dollar. If you have a high budget, the 8600k could be a good deal too since it's the cheapest way to get the most frame rates in games atm.

7600k would require you for new RAM and Motherboard. Either find cheapo 4th get i7 k model or invest into propper upgrade. 8600k/8700k/Ryzen system/Wait for 9th gen.

Not worth the jump to any newer platform atm, unless your needs are VERY specific.

Going from a 4c/4t to another 4c/4t is a complete waste of money.

I would suggest you wait until October for the 9th Gen Chips to be launched, then get the i9-9700k :)

Not worth it. I would save for a Ryzen based platform. The 7600K is a chip that requires a new motherboard and ram, and still has 4c/4t. Not a worthy upgrade.

Didn't think about that. I think that will be the cheapest option.

The most recent rumors are Q1 2019 for these.

Might have been obsolete though. It's a 2 day old news already. And we all know, rumors do come fast.

Others are also reporting October, 2018. So maybe your news is newer.
