1080p Tablets for Netflix, youtube, ect..

I'm looking for an android tablet that has at the very least a 1080p IPS display and dual speakers. That's all I really care about and I'm having trouble finding a tablet to that will meet my wants without being overly too expensive. I don't care about cameras, charging port, or any other unnecessary features because I won't be using them. This tablet will be at my bedside until it either bricks or I get a better tablet. I will never take it off a charger so batter life doesn't matter.

I previously owned a FireHD 10 and attempted to root it and install an android OS to no avail. I learned later that it was just a 720p screen simulating 1080p. I returned it due to the fact that amazon doesn't have all the apps I use to watch shows. Thus I'm in the market for a new tablet.

Does anyone have an suggestions?

I think the Tab S is the one for me. With stereo speakers I prefer the speakers to be on the top or bottom (in landscape orientation) but having a speaker on either side (left and right, landscape) is perfectly acceptable. I would prefer true 16:9 1080p but with only a minimal difference in resolution it is easy to look past that. Best of all, it's only 20 dollars higher than my current budget. Being slightly over budget is fine though. I will just work an extra shift and/or save a little longer.

Thank you both for the help.

iPad 2018. Good performance, good specs, long support. Best value  tbh.

Huawei mediapad m5 is good, but has DRM issues, it won't play HD content on Netflix etc.

I have had a bad experience with apple in the past so I only try to use android products. Plus I can find similar specs for cheaper. I appreciate the comment though.

Then, besides the Mediapad M5 (Stereo speakers!, but still problems with HD content), might wait for the next Galaxy Tab A10, which comes with the Tab S4?

Of course, will depend on the Price. The MSRP of 349 usd are way too much for what is inside. 200~ would make more sense

  • 4 weeks later...

I recommend the huawei mediapad M5

PERFORMANCE: So far, this has been a major plus for me. Nothing stutters or hangs, and multi-tasking is a breeze. Even though I love my Tab S 8.4, the hardware is starting to struggle with modern games and apps.

-Finger print sensor is fast and responsive every time I use it.

-Startup time is much faster than I've seen in an Android device lately!

-Battery life: excellent… and I do mean EXCELLENT! I guess, when compared to my 4-year-old tablet, any battery is going to score well with my tests! I watched a 45-minute Netflix show (downloaded, offline) the other day and had 98% battery left! Streaming video takes a bigger toll on the tablet but was still a high performer!

-Downloads: Speeds are fast. I've run the tablet on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks. No issues whatsoever!

And it have $20 off on amazon now.LOL.

Don't let the battery% fool you^^ it often stays long at a high %, but then drops fast.

What really does say something is the Screen-On-Time, when you hit 1-5% battery ^^ How long was the actual usage.

I managed to hit 12-14 hours a few times with my Pixel C back then. But that thing had a 9000 mAh Battery..

Also, you forgot to mention one of the best "features": Stereo speakers^^
