so my mom got an 850W power supply when i imagined it would be to much for my older pc, but it had the port i needed for my ASUS Geforce 1060 6GB, i wanted to go with 750W but it was more expensive but only by like 10$ and idk why, im worried this power supply will fry everything in my computer. Will it?

It will only supply the parts with whatever amount of power they need.

Though, if its a cheap power supply it could fry all your parts.

I don't think it works that way

we're talking watts not volts

Uh, the worst thing that happens when your PSU has more watts than needed is that it may not be as efficient depending on load. Some people actually do this on purpose so the PSU spins the fan up less to reduce noise.

Literally that's it.

can someone please find the source of the "too high wattage power supply can fry your computer" myth and stab whatever said source is?

no, a power supply of excessively too high wattage will not fry your components, all you did was waste money, and potentially be in a less than optimal spot on the efficiency curve.

With a decent PSU.

There are better ones but there isn't much you can complain about with the G2.
