Posted August 2, 2018 I got my Z370 Micro rig up and running, very happy with the results thus far. I don't currently own any B-die - but I want to. So, I'm looking at the data sheets - and it turns out the memoy QVL on my Z370 Micro contains almost exclusively quad channel kits. Now, since the motherboard only has two DIMM-slots, that's... weird. So, I'm wondering if I bought dual channel versions of the same kits (for example F4-3200C14D-16GTZ instead of F4-3200C14Q2-64GTZ) will the motherboard recognize these as the same chips and apply the appropriate timings? If not... what were you thinking of, EVGA? ... Or is the QVL completely irrelevant? Posted August 2, 2018 RAM kits themself aren't single, dual or quad channel. The motherboard slots and cpu memory controller determine that. And when it comes to Intel ram compatibility is generally pretty good, and especially for only 3200mhz, any kit should work fine. I know, but they are still marketed as such. I contacted EVGA, it turns out they actually don't do any manual optimizations for the kits in the QVL. They are merely the ones that have been tested to work. I guess that's ok considering the OC focus of their products, and that manual timings will be better than preset ones.
