Looking for an antivirus that doesn't treat me like an idiot.

I've always used Avast but recently it installed "Avast Passwords" without my permission. I tried to uninstall it but i couldn't find the option to do so, so i uninstalled the whole thing alltogether. I searched for an antivirus software that doesn't have all of its options hidden behind a sleek looking menu but i couldn't find any. So i'm asking people on this forum if they know of a good antivirus that doesn't hide everything and install software behind my back.

If you're experienced user and don't want that AV software thinks for you, uninstall all AV crap, disable Defender and use only Comodo Firewall for monitoring internet activity. You can always scan your system from time to time and use bootable scanners if you want to. Or just image your system once a month and revert any changes. It's not that you must have AV. No, you don't. Feel 100% of your computer speed! :)

I'm certain that you can uninstall unnecessary components through the components section of settings as I only have game mode and the four shields installed on my avast install.

I've been using Iobit malware fighter since past 2 yrs and have never faced any issue. Its lightweight and standalone malware and virus protection.

Don't be dumb, use Malwarebytes, use your head when you search around websites.

This. ^^^ Use MBAM and a healthy dose of CommonSenseTM and you'll be safe.

Have you tried McAfee?

Oh hell no. I'd rather install ransomware than M Security. At least this way it would force me to nuke my system.
