Best used GPU for dual 2640

So months ago i got for free a E5-2640 processor. i just bought another one and a supermicro dual socket board (the supermicro x9dri-ln4f+) to make a cheap blender workstation for a friend. Since he will be using it for gaming too, I need a GPU. His budget for the GPU is arround 150€. Any suggestions?

a used R9 290x would be a good buy

Not sure if you can find a GTX 970 for that money, just take a look at them.

 

Otherwise, look for the R9 290/390 or 780ti. Make sure you get a good PSU for these old flagships though, they are power hogs (but similar performance to the 970)

I’d definitely try get the 290 over the 970 due to it being slightly more powerful, though. The 390 is just more powerful, however it will be more expensive just because it’s newer.
