Modding the backplate of the new mac book to fit a third party cooler?

How hard would it be to remove the back panel on the new mac book, mod it to allow for a third party cooler, and then have it be able to close up as normal. Or even 3d print a new panel which is thicker to make for a sleeker look and a new cooler.
