It's supposed to rain tomorrow in the south, blessed relief for my gaming laptop, literally thermal throttling down to 2.9/3.1ghz at 93c in this heat. That and the fact that it can single-handedly raise the temperature of my room so much so that I have to stop using it.

I rarely feel the heat..I work 9-6pm and by the time I get out it's cooled down and in the office there is A/C so I have no issues with the heatwave xD in fact I would love to experience it at least once before it ends :P

WLP you're not alone... I also can't stand the heat, and would take cold any time. Sub zero? Yes please. 25C+ = heat death. I think I have desensitised a bit from this long run. I'm able to sleep ok even though my bedroom is usually 27C+.

Right now I'm at work, which is air conditioned. Staying longer... :)

At home, I've turned off as much stuff as I can, and that seems to help. I keep a lot of fish, but managed to downscale two large systems recently and between them that probably saves several hundreds of watts in equipment and lighting. My gaming system is currently running at capped 72fps (half 144) to lower the load and keep the heat down in long sessions. It does make a difference to heat output, and less than I thought to the experience.

Main system: i9-7920X, Asus X299 TUF mark 2, Noctua D15, Corsair Vengeance LPX RGB 3000 8x8GB, RTX 4070 FE, NZXT E850, GameMax Abyss, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB, Acer Predator XB241YU 24" 1440p 144Hz G-Sync + HP LP2475w 24" 1200p 60Hz wide gamut
Gaming laptop: Lenovo Legion 5, 5800H, RTX 3070, Kingston DDR4 3200C22 2x16GB 2Rx8, Kingston Fury Renegade 1TB + Crucial P1 1TB SSD, 165 Hz IPS 1080p G-Sync Compatible

Give it a couple days... The heatwave we got 3 weeks ago took an entire week to end... then a new one popped up the week after for 2 to 3 days.

Just drink a lot of water, stay inside as much as possible and close the curtains/windows/doors to prevent the heat and humidity from coming in during the day. If you don't have an AC unit, have a fan or two blow air around inside.

Early August I'm betting, down south (Leicester) we're going to get a ton of rain over the weekend to clear up the air.

Run to hardware store and get a window air conditioner?

I got one for my bedroom last heat wave here in the bay area. It's helped immensely and was a whopping $150 or so.

Or, yknow, fans and suffering.

The trick is to not avoid the heat, let your body acclimatise and don't fight it. It's a bit late now but next spring, when you start to feel the urge to turn the A/C on in the car or hide away from the initial warmer temperatures, stick it out and get used to it. By the time summer comes, 30C will only feel slightly warmer rather than it being a "heatwave".

For now though a good trick is to soak a T-shirt, wring it out and wear that, it will work like an evaporative cooler but for free. Or just soak a towel and drape it over you. I wouldn't buy an evaporative cooler in the UK though as the climate is usually too humid already and they will only add to that moisture making it feel like a hot damp rain forest.

Everyone's different but I'll leave you to research acclimatisation, perhaps 2 days a week is not sufficient for you. Try something different next year, experiment. Perhaps there's the mindset as well, if you go around hating the heat, when you feel hot you'll get more worked up about it.

LOL. The hottest day so far this year has been 35.1°C (~95.2°F) in Surry, and the hottest day ever was 38.5°C (~101.3°F) in 2003.

Ouch, I dealt with 50C before and even I highly dislike that high of heat.  And, I grew up most of my life down here near the panhandle of Florida.

I can handle 115F/46C, but with very light cloths, a brim hat, and a lot of water on hand.  Even then, most here would rather stay out of the sun or at least stay in the shade.

Though, seems the usually heat wave that shows up here decided to go visit Europe this year.  No wonder the grass here is growing mad, no high heat to kill the crap off.

Actually, with that heat wave, they are currently having higher temps than down here in Florida.  Though, there a cold front pushing down here big time that is lowering the temperatures.  So odd to be this far in Summer with temps below 90F/32C down here in the panhandle.  Along with it raining a lot as well.

Plenty of beer needed and you'll be fine. Road trips are also great on sunny days and the beach. Usually all three of these at the same time is optimal. It's unfortunate that the UK does not have good beer, beaches or roads :(

Yeah.  For me, the nearest beach is like under 10mins away.  :P  Offset, got those pesky hurricanes that show up.
