Air cooling for i7 8700k

GRMRPR

Looking for a good air heat sink that'll fit in my build. Will attach a picture of it at the bottom. Simplified question, need a air cooling heat sink that can fit in the case. Please comment if more pictures at different angles are needed or if specifications about the case and Mobo are needed as well. Thanks.

Looks like you have a cooler right there and maybe telling us what the case is would be helpful.

As all cases have different clearances the case manufacturer and model would be needed eh.

Arctic Freezer 33 eSports Edition (the one with two fans), Cryorig H7/Quad Lumi, and the be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3/4 are all good options.

Would I have to delid my CPU? Or how does this work I'm new to most of this

Cooler right there was being used for my i3-8100. I'm certain it's only good for temporary use for my 8700k. I'm sorry for seeming incompetent. This is my first build and barely put it together 2 weeks ago and am upgrading parts.

Delidding isn't necessary, but it definitely helps for temperatures.

So if I went with the coolers you recommend what thermal compounds would I have to purchase to go along with them?

Thermal compounds to consider come down to either normal stuff like Arctic MX-4 which I'm using for my PC, or high-end stuff like Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut/Conductonaut. The former should be fine, I've been using MX-4 for the past week or so and my temps are never over 60°C in normal usage.

I should have gotten a GTX 1080 cause there's a huge gap with the 8700k and a 1060?

Delidding fixes the main issue with cooling Coffee Lake, you drop around 20C by doing it. Slapping a bigger cooler might not do much before then.

You can have it shipped to silicon lottery if you don't want to do it yourself.

Would have highly suggested an R5 2600 + GTX 1070ti instead ya....

I'd like to lean away from doing so just cause I'm sketched lol. But I have an uncle at Intel who might be able to a few buds who know a thing or two about it. But I'd like not to if I can. Just as long as I can keep under 80 I'm happy

Can you ask your uncle why they use elmer's glue for the TIM on the IHS of their $1799 CPUs?

Delid before you buy a larger cooler in any event. It's only $45 + Shipping from Silicon Lottery

your uncle will smack you if you say that about their cpu's xD not worth 45 bucks in my opinion, you will be just fine with a big cooler, your temps will lower, the thermal paste it good from the noctua guys and be quiet guys so you are fine (it is included), noise will be lower if you go with a high end cooler, my 8700k is 5.0 hgz at 70 under load, tho i am in a 15 C ambient temps with a drp3 no deliding (but that may be just my chip). If you want to overclock a fair bit go with a high end cooler, if you do not want to touch voltages then do not bother unless you do it for noise reduction or looks.
