what is the best option

I have a laptop that has a slow hard drive but still works and I want to clone it but it only has 1 drive bay should I clone it on a usb external hard drive or get a usb to sata cable and clone it to a regular hard drive and just put the new hard drive in the 2.5 bay

Hello Cx_in_the_chat,

Using it as an external drive will not enhance the performance of the SSD since it will be determined by the USB, check under the release version for details: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB

Pretty much if the computer is using USB 2.0 that will be your speed, if the machine uses 3.0 then that will be the transfer rate, the best thing you can do is install it using the internal SATA port to take advantage of its use application.
